GSM/GPRS Remote Access Software and Mobile PC Phone
Global System for Mobile communications (GSM) is the second generation digital technology originally developed for Europe but which now has in excess of 71 per cent of the world market. Initially developed for operation in the 900MHz band and subsequently modified for the 850, 1800 and 1900MHz bands. GSM originally stood for Groupe Speciale Mobile, the CEPT committee which began the GSM standardisation process GSM is a digital cellular network which is mainly used voice communications.
General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) standardised as part of GSM Phase 2+. It represents the first implementation of packet switching within GSM, which is a circuit switched technology. GPRS offers theoretical data speeds of up to 115kbit/s using multislot techniques. GPRS is an essential precursor for 3G as it introduces the packet switched core required for UMTS.
GPRS technology enables us to send data using the wireless mobile network for machine to machine (M2M) communication. Although GSM usage has become popular, there are not much applications on the market which uses the data communication.
We have designed and implemented “World’s first GSM/GPRS based Remote Access Solution” for one of the biggest companies in wireless communications. This product enables users to access internet using the GPRS network. The users can use services like internet browsing, emailing while they are mobile through the wireless internet connection.
The users can also login to their corporate LAN's and office networks using a secure GPRS data line while they are out of the office or on the road.
The software also enables users to send/receive SMS and MMS from their laptops and make phone calls directly using their PC through the GSM network. It allows users to transfer phone numbers and SMS's between their mobile phone and PCs. The phone numbers can be imported to Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Notes or you can export your contacts from these programs to your mobile phone.
For this project we have prepared the analysis/design specification and developed the GUI application with a special look'n feel for this product.This package has been delivered to over 20,000 users in 6 countries during the first launch.
