Wireless EFT/POS with GSM/GPRS for Mobile Banking and Payment Applications
Do you need Wireless Payment Terminals and Wireless POS Systems?
We have designed a handheld POS terminal system with GSM/GPRS capability to be used in mobile online banking and payment applications. Connectivity and security was our first goal in the design besides mobility, robustness and user-friendliness. The terminal has the following major features, which puts it far beyond the other terminals on the market:
GSM/GPRS Connectivity
With the built-in GSM/GPRS modem the terminal can make online transactions. GPRS provides communication speeds faster than the regular phone lines, this way the authorization process takes only a few seconds. It also allows information to be sent while the operator is mobile, making the terminal ideal for dispatching applications.
USB Connectivity
The devices can be connected to a local host for multi-terminal applications as in ware-houses where many terminals has to share a direct connection to the bank host. USB allows 256 devices to be connected to one host fast, easy and cheaply. Additionally USB port can be used for attaching external devices to the terminal like barcode readers, keyboards or printers. USB port on the terminal also allows a fast local connection to the terminal for downloading/uploading software and performing diagnostics.
Bluetooth Connectivity
The terminal also has Bluetooth capability for multi-terminal applications where a single resource (connection to host or printer) needs to be shared.
System On-Chip (SOC) Design
The central processing unit and the peripherals are integrated on the same chip. This increases the security of the payment terminal as all data is processed on chip. SOC concept also reduces the size and the power consumption of the device drastically. It also has a big impact on component count on the system board decreasing the cost and number of defects.
Secure Keyboard
Secure keyboard eliminates the need for an external PIN-Pad, which is crucial for mobile applications.
For our client we have done the "Analysis" and prepared the "Hardware Requirement Specification" and "Software Requirements Specification" for both terminal and host side. We have prepared the "Top Level Design" for the ASIC and defined the system architecture. Additionally we have developed the core system components for the terminal software including several device drivers.
